The 680 NEWS Radio brand had not been altered, updated and/or changed in 20 years, both from an imaging and content standpoint. The brand stakeholders wanted to update the content, and support it with a more contemporary brand look/feel and create a tighter/fresher experience for their listeners.
Once we developed our new logo and branding for 680 NEWS, we rolled it out to the rest of the brand family; 6 stations in total across Canada. We addressed the fonts, colour palette (inspired by traffic lights), iconography, brand guidelines, updated the website, app, and how it would live in market, down to case structure of the text. We also created three new TV spots to promote the refresh.
This refresh specifically focused on a more modern and animated representation of the three pillars that comprise the news program: weather, traffic and news. The focus on knowing more about the news, weather and traffic communicates the value of the program, while fun and vibrant illustrations appeal to the younger demographic.
